A wonderful place to spend an afternoon. There’s walking trails, a huge pond full of blue herons, and docks that stick out into the water. The mansion and gardens are so beautiful too. Bring your camera!

Always a lovely walk. And the mansion gardens are beautiful.

Fun historical location. Beautiful old mansion and grounds. The walk to the river is very nice. Frequent special events; perfect for families.

Good time at fall season festival day (not the exact name of the event). Fun for littler kids and adults who like local & American & industrial history. I would go back again. The volunteer docents are all lovely and helpful and devoted to this historical landmark.

It's always a treat to visit the Historic Smithville Park in NJ. It's a beautifully preserved self-contained "Industrial Village" that was originally built around 1800 with a dam, sawmill, and gristmill. Later it grew to be self sustaining, replete with a farm complex, water turbines, factory, school, stable, a boarding house for single (male) employees, and a village full of homes. Today there are lovely streets and original buildings to explore, as well as well-maintained hiking trails.
